My wife had to run to the shop yesterday after work and, since I wasn't really sure what we were going to have for dinner, I asked her to search for something. As expected, she came home with a frozen dinner. But, this time, it was something I hadn't tried before; a Steak Gorgonzola Saute for Two from the Stouffer's brand.
I've had plenty of skillet saute dinners like this during the past and, because of that, I honestly wasn't expecting too much from it. I figured it would be OK. But, I also expected it to lack any real quality and, more importantly, not have a great deal of quantity since most dinners for two barely have enough for two servings.
As far as taste goes, I had no complaints. The saute had plenty of meat in it (rather than a mere few pieces, like with many other skillet dinners) and everything had a decent flavor to it. I do not believe it was as good as something you might have in a restaurant or even something made from scratch. But, the quality was more than acceptable considering how easy this was to make.
My two entrees fed me dinner for a week and a half. My easy dinners cost me around $30. That means I spent about an average of $2 an evening for dinner.
What really impressed me though was the quantity. As I said before, most dinners for two do not offer quite enough food to provide a filling meal. That was not the case this time. We did not have leftovers. But, we did have enough for seconds and would have had our hunger satisfied by this even without the salad. I'm not sure how much my wife paid for this, but that alone would make it worth the money, even without the quality I mentioned before.
Needless to say, I am very pleased with this purchase. The next time I'm looking for an easy dinner for two for my wife and me, I will search for this (or another Stouffer's Sautes for Two variety); even if it means spending a little more money.
